Lamppost Farm Orchard and Community Garden Design

In the early 2010’s we designed a few acres of Lamppost Farm to be a community orchard, food forest and vegetable garden. Lamppost is a non-profit farm focusing its 160 acres of land on rotationally grazed pastured poultry and grass-fed beef. After being a part of their founding board of directors I was hired to design a space for greater community involvement with a diversity of food producing trees and shrubs. The space also includes a long edible windbreak that reduces west to east winds on the high tunnel and raised beds. The design was implemented over a few years to wonderful results, including the harvest of thousands of pounds of food each year. My design was really just a starting point for the incredible, community based, implementation that has occurred over the past decade.
