In 2019 we worked with teachers from Pittsburgh Urban Christian School to design a diverse and edible landscape that would benefit the local ecology, provide healthy food for kids and allow for play and exploration. The design includes a rooftop garden, a bioshelter greenhouse for seedling production edible hedgerows and an edible forest edge. This design was not yet implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic and staffing shortages. We hope to work with the school in years to come to see their dreams come to fruition! The photos below are of the design and “before” photos.
